Freakin' Therapeutics

Right now I'm trying to create some sort of study guide for my Therapy exam on Tuesday. Clearly it's going really well. It's really frustrating that there is absolutely no consistency whatsoever between what one professor tells us and the next. That makes it really freaking tough to do well on the exam, because not only do you have to remember all of the information for the exam, which are all open ended and in case format, but you have to remember who taught which subject and how exactly they wanted the case to be formatted. That's ridiculous. One professor wants us to prescribe an amount of lotion/cream/etc. in addition to saying what product to get. In my profession, I won't say "Hey go grab that 11.3 gram tube of hydrocortisone," I'll say, "I recommend you use hydrocortisone 1% cream and it's in aisle whatever." Another professor insists that clipping fingernails in a non pharmacologic treatment, while others say it is a patient education point.

The worst is that the course coordinator acts as if she can do nothing about this, saying that everyone has their own "quirks." I say BS. She is the coordinator and if she wanted to say, "This is how the cases should be, period end of story," she could. Only she doesn't. And this is just the OTC therapy. Can't wait till it actually gets more difficult. But, no one said it would be easy and I did choose this path. For everyone who reads this (probably 1, thanks Sarah) and is in Therapy too, good luck and may the Force be with you.

  1. Yep, I did read it, but I'm not in therapeutics :) Although classes taught by multiple teachers definitely suck. Good luck with the studying!
